Limited Edition Photographic Series on Chromaluxe Aluminum Cave Paintings extends Palmer’s investigation of perception into the submerged architectures of the intertidal zone. During extreme low tides in Tofino, ocean caves normally hidden under water briefly reveal walls alive with mineral colour, algae, sponges, and the etched patterns of bivalves. Palmer photographs these formations in-camera at close range, treating them as naturally occurring abstractions shaped by ecological processes. By presenting these hidden surfaces in isolation, the work encourages viewers to engage with the intricate forms and textures of the intertidal world, revealing patterns of life, transformation, and ecological interconnection.
